Central Austin Residence

Central Austin Residence - the three-zoned front yard featured a steel terraced entryway, rain garden, and a large selection of sedges, native grasses and perennials.

This unique home had a large front yard that wrapped around the front and side of the house. We broke this front yard area into three sections. The front entrance needed a little refresh. We re-leveled the ground and added structural support to restore the soil after years of erosion and soil shifting. We built steel terraces that led to the front door and reset the existing concrete slabs. In the second section, we created a large rain garden feature to hold water on the property. This feature not only reduces rain water runoff, it creates a wildlife sanctuary of native grasses and perennials for birds, lizards, bees and butterflies.  The third section included a large collection of evergreen sedges, native grasses, and many perennials.
