Highland Park West Residence
Highland Park West Residence - terraced landscaping with limestone masonry, native and adapted plants
_edited_edited_edited.jpg)
The client was hoping to repurpose the underutilized slope of the yard, from the existing limestone brick walls to the bottom of the property. This slope was steep and full of weeds, but had a lot of potential. The client was also a native plant enthusiast and avid gardener, and was excited to have the space to grow fun natives year-round. We worked together to create a plan that divided the slope into limestone terraced beds, walkways, staircases, and a lower patio under the shade of a red oak tree. Large limestone boulders were kept on site, and a river gravel dry creek added structure and interest for winter months of low to no growth.
Plants that were used in this design:
1. Limestone block walls
2. Possumhaw
3. Mountain laurel
4. Compact Texas sage
5. Almond verbena
6. Salvia greggii
7. Red yucca
8. Gulf coast muhly
