Westlake Residence
Westlake Residence - modern architecture blended with xeriscaped design

The client had existing hardscaping in place but hired us to bring that personalized touch with thoughtful plant selection and installation. One of the main goals of the project was to incorporate low-water landscaping. To that end, we installed beds of soft grasses and colorful deer-resistant perennials surrounded by limestone gravel. We brought in agaves, yuccas, and several small trees to create structure and height. The backyard contained a series of existing limestone terraces, which we filled with an herb garden, several varieties of fruit trees, and many Texas perennials to attract birds, butterflies, bees, and other pollinators. The lowest terrace functions as a non-irrigated natural area seeded out as a wildflower pocket prairie. After one year of growth, it was a haven for wildlife and provided a beautiful view.
